Happy Birthday to me! The Birthday Sweater tradition continues with this late entry for 2007. Even though my 42nd birthday was in June, it is not considered late until I turn 43. I make the rules!
It is the Tilted Duster from Interweave Knits, Fall ‘07. I used Araucania Nature Wool Chunky, I don’t have the color number handy, and it has been discontinued. It took somewhere between 9 -9.5 balls. I used size 7 needles. Most of the time, I used KP Options, but those suckers kept unscrewing on me, and my hands hurt after awhile, so I worked with my Denise Interchangables to give my hands a break. Started: September 1, 2007 Finished: October 30, 2007
Notes: I had concerns about the sleeves being too tight. I could have knit this with zero ease at the 40″ size, or 4″ ease at the 44″ size. I opted for the latter, and while a bit large, the sleeves are just right. A 42″ inch size would have been perfect, but that size wasn’t included with the pattern and the re-sizing was just more than I wanted to attempt. I’m still very happy with the end result. I will go back and put the rest of the buttons in which will pull it all in more, but I prefer the one button for now.
Welcome to the new blog! Read my About page to find out more….
PS – This is also my 20 lb sweater (yay!). No, it doesn’t weigh that much, though appearances may give one that impression. It’s that I weigh that much less. I knit myself a little “reward” for every 10 lbs I lose until I get to my goal. Fortunately, I knit quickly. Unfortunately, I lose slowly. Ultimately, the twain shall meet!

Well, looks great.
I have the magazine with me at work today and I was thinking on putting on my to do list.
Is there anything you would have done differently with the pattern as a “heads up’?
…I mean other than all the really useful comments you already made!
great tilted duster. I can’t wait to make mine. I will be making mine with one of the BMFA Raven colors.
Chrispy noted in an earlier post on the other blog that 2″ is the suggested ease on this sweater. There wasn’t a size written for that for me so I went up a little and it turned out ok. So I guess “heads up” would be to knit that 2″ size if it’s there for you to do so.
Love the new blog, Katy! Seeing the ease of the comment feature, it is tempting to leave Blogger behind…but the thought of starting up a new blog is overwhelming! I also like your Blogroll feature!

GREAT sweater Katy! And you are looking great as well! Loving your new blog!
Great sweater, I was just looking at that the other day… New blog is great, too. I’ve noticed at least one other knit blogger who has recently gone to WordPress. I think she was on TypePad(?) and was having unrelenting problems with not getting all of her comments. Good luck!
