I went to see the Harlot and all I got was this lousy photo..

and, um, some yarn, too.

What can I say? It was the Yarn Harlot and who else can make people laugh about yarn while explicating the virtues of knitting and neuroplasticity to 450 people? I don’t think my MIL has seen so many knitters in one place, I swear I could see evidence of her getting high on yarn fumes. Or maybe it was her gamma waves kicking into overdrive? YH posted on her Portland visit and sums it up much better than I could.

Progress Report

Shedir is moving along…

Shedir

Monkeys are done!

Monkeys

..and my first sock club shipment from Wool Girl arrived.

Reina

It’s a beautiful Mama Llama sock yarn inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe. I cast on, knit halfway down one cuff, then plunked everything in my bag for the traveling project.

I’ve taken the plunge and become a knitter for hire. I’ve knit a few samples for Knit Picks and soon will work on a test knit for them. It’s fun and I am trying some techniques and projects that I wouldn’t normally gravitate toward. My plans for knitting now are to finish Shedir asap, work on the KP project, and keep the Reinas in the bag for the odd moments that my neuros aren’t feeling so plastic. This will keep me out of trouble until the big Birthday Sweater decision.

Rippley is in the TV basket. In other words, I only work on it while watching tv, which isn’t that often. I’m still knitting through miles of stockinette and it’s perfect for things like Survivor, the Big Brother finale ( yay Baller), Dancing with the Stars, and well, that’s about it. Guilty pleasures, every single one. All the gains in my gamma rays made by the meditative action of knitting are quickly canceled out by the idiot box, rendering my brainwaves back to business as usual.

You really don’t want to know what that looks like.
