Tin Man Garden Art

2008 025, originally uploaded by knitterkate.

Ornamental bird houses found at the Salem Art Fair and Festival. This is the largest juried art festival in Oregon and a fun outing for the family. Lots of theatre, music, food, and, of course, art for sale. The children’s art area is fantastic and Bush’s Pasture Park is gorgeous. Hub and I agreed that we need to come back with more time and more money. I want one of these houses for my garden!

Pumpkin is no longer…now we are Xena Warrior Princess!

..and then there was yarn…

I am the luckiest daughter-in-law in the world because my mother-in-law is a knitter and completely gets the whole stash enhancement thing. She gave me a late birthday present of a gift certificate to Northwest Wools and, well, we can’t have that sitting around now can we?

Knitting 2008 101

I have three projects on the needles and this Manos will be a “reward” for finishing those projects…oops, make that 4

- Rippley ( Indigo Ripples ~ I am knitting the ruffle)
- Reina ( halfway down the leg on sock #2)
- Kochoran Clapotis ( Grandma wants this, so I am motivated to finish before fall)
- Pi shawl (no I haven’t forgotten about my lovely Pi shawl..I am on the last section)

…back to work!

I love the “glow” that silk imparts to yarn. Your Manos is lovely, a great colorway. What do you think it wants to be?

And I love the Xena look!

I do think the silk content was what clinched it for me! I’m thinking of knitting a scarf…maybe Veronik Avery’s Lacy scarf from Knitty.
