Clapotis

Clapotis, originally uploaded by knitterkate.

I’m home! I spent the afternoon napping and knitting…finished Grandma’s Clapotis. I used 2.5 skeins of Noro Kochoran on size 10 needles and cut out a few repeats as the yarn is bulky. The angora kept getting up my nose, so I knew early on that this wrap was not for me.

My grandmother likes to get out for a walk everyday and thought it would work for her cold weather walks, so it will be winging itsway to her after a good washing and blocking. A note for those who may want the try the Clap with this yarn; dropping stitches is not a pleasurable activity – it’s very sticky. Despite the negatvies, I think the finished product is gorgeous and Grandma is going to love it.

I’ll put up some pics from the Art Institute over the next few days…

Gorgeous! I made one from Silk Garden Lite and the dropping of stitches was sticky, but an entertaining respite from the repetitive knitting. I love it.

Yours is beautiful! I’m sure your grandmother will cherish it every time she takes a walk in the fall.

One word of advice. Don’t truly block it. Just wash it and lay it out flat to dry. If you block it too much, it loses the lovely rippling effect of the dropped stitch pattern. :)
